ARTIST F.A.Q. | Community Supported Art Colorado

1. What is CSArt Colorado?

Community Supported Art Colorado (CSArt Colorado) is the state’s first share-based art collective that brings local artists and art lovers together. Modeled closely on agricultural CSAs that link local food growers with local consumers, the CSArt program has gained awareness thanks to the work of St. Paul-based Springboard for the Arts.

CSArt Colorado creates dynamic opportunities for residents to support their local arts and business communities through a share-based collective that encourages artistic production and creates new economic opportunities.

2. How do I apply to become a participating artist?

Artist applications are available online at Artists of every medium and practice are encouraged to apply, and artists should maintain primary residence in the state of Colorado and be able to deliver their work to pick up events in Boulder and Denver. The artist selection committee will choose a total of 18 artists for CSArt Colorado 2013 based on artistic excellence, diversity, and the artist’s ability to create 59 original artworks. Artists will be notified of their participation and receive the CSArt Colorado Artist’s contract in February 2013. If you have additional questions about becoming a CSArt Colorado artist, contact us at or call 303.443.2122.

3. What are the benefits to participating?

Artists will gain opportunities to meet local collectors, develop relationships with other local artists, market their work, and gain publicity throughout their communities. CSArt Colorado will provide each artist a stipend to underwrite the production of 59 original artworks – 50 works for the CSArt Colorado shareholders and nine for the additional participating artists. Each artist will have one deadline to meet, and artists will distribute artworks at either the spring, summer, and fall distribution events. Participating artists will receive invitations to all of the distribution events. CSArt Colorado hopes that artists will develop long-term relationships with shareholders and benefit from ongoing commissions.
