“For my contribution to CSArt, I wanted to share a photograph that would showcase Colorado, convey an appreciation for our natural environment and illustrate my personal artistic sensitivity.
I am not especially interested in grandiose subjects, but rather, tend to see beauty in the most mundane objects. For example, I have been working for several years on a series depicting specimens from my compost bin. This diptych captures a rock formation that faces the foothills, just off Highway 93 between Boulder and Golden. While it may not be particularly impressive, the formation stands firm and alone on the vast plain, while we pass by so quickly in our cars. One of the privileges of the artist is to be able to slow down, look around with awareness and appreciation and bring back images that might speak to others.”
