“As a gardener in Boulder’s Hawthorn community garden, I have enjoyed the communal interaction with my fellow gardeners. I was interested in participating in the CSArt Colorado program as a way to build a similar community by connecting artists directly with art patrons.
Natural imagery is a starting point for experimentation in my woodcut prints. Once a set of wood blocks is carved, I reprint the image with varied colors to achieve subtle variations. In my approach to this project, I considered another community we are all dependent on; the community of bees and the difficult plight they are facing.”
